EndNote Online and Word
Panopto video from the Academic Skills Centre, University of Birmingham: includes sub-titles.
Using EndNote Online in Word
From the EndNote tab in Word;choose Insert Citation - Find Citation. This opens up a dialogue box where you can search for a reference by author, title or keyword. Highlight the desired reference and click on Insert.
This also generates a reference list at the end of the document with the full details according to the referencing style chosen.
Vancouver Style - Journal Titles
Note that for Vancouver style, you will need to edit the journal titles in the reference list entries. Journal abbreviations required can be found by searching the National Library of Medicine Catalog (journals search page) Links to an external site.
See the following Panopto video for details (includes subtitles).
Vancouver Styles in EndNote Online
Note that more than one Vancouver Style is available in EndNote Online. Aside from "Vancouver", the following are worth investigation: these include the DOI (stable URL) in the reference, but may have other details not required by your Programme. The journal titles will still require abbreviation (see above).
- Citing Medicine (the title also of the US National Library of Medicine style guide)
- Sage Vancouver
- BMJ (house style for the British Medical Journal: this uses superscript instead of in-line bracketed numbers for in-text citations)
Always check with your Programme tutors or supervisor for referencing requirements: they are the final arbiters of your work.
