OSCOLA (used for Law) citing in text and footnotes

School of Law

Students undertaking modules in the School of Law should use the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) referencing style. This referencing system uses footnotes.

What to put in your text

• Guidance on how to cite sources in-text and create footnotes can be found in the 4th edition of the OSCOLA Guide Links to an external site.

Reference list

• A separate list of references or bibliography is not normally required, however, if you should need to know how to create a bibliography, information can be found on page 11 of the 4th edition of the OSCOLA Guide Links to an external site.
