What are line-breaks?
You might notice that when you first look at a folio which is ready to transcribe, the lines in the transcribed text often end in different places to where the lines in the folio end. This is because we have not yet told the computer where in the transcription the end of each line is meant to be. For this we are going to use some simple xml 'line-break' tags. This will tell the computer where the end of the lines of text is in the folio, i.e. where the lines 'break'.
The image below shows a folio ready to be transcribed, but the transcription doesn't have any line-breaks.
