Tironian notes
When transcribing you may come across these symbols:
They are symbols for the word 'and'. We call them Tironian notes. The first example above is a lower case Tironian note and the second is a capital Tironian note.
Here at the Estoria de Espanna project, we consider both types of Tironian notes as abbreviations for 'and', and we have decided to expand them to 'e', which is 'and' in Medieval Spanish.
The tag for both types of Tironian note is as follows:

You may also see 'and' written like this:
This is most common after a pilcrow sign. Look at the example.
When you see 'and' written like this you should transcribe 'Et' or 'et', depending on how it appears in the folio.
