Choice tags are a type of tag you can use to show an abbreviation and its expansion.

So far we have concentrated on abbreviations where the abbreviation mark appears directly before where you need to add in the expansion. For example:

Screen Shot 2014-10-29 at 16.13.25.png We are expanding this word to 'non', as we believe the macron over the o represents a suppressed 'n'.

We can tag this using the abbreviation/expansion tag studied earlier:

However, sometimes the suppressed letters come before the abbreviation mark. For example:

Screen Shot 2014-10-29 at 16.17.17.png We are expanding this to 'uuestro'. We believe the macron over the r represents the missing letters 'uest'.

The choice tag would be:

We can also use choice tags when the abbreviation and expansion are separated by other letters, although these are less common. Here are two examples from the manuscripts:

sobre - The hook on the b represents the missing letter e after the letter r.
