What do we mean by Learning Activities?
In the previous section we introduced the concept of ‘learning design’ and considered this in relation to three perspectives of learning – associative, constructivist and situative. As we discussed, each of these perspectives makes different assumptions about learning and as such have been helpful to us in designing the range of ‘learning activities’ you will engage with during your studies. In this section we introduce you to the term ‘learning activities’ and provide the opportunity for you to access examples of the different types of learning activities you will engage with once you commence your studies.
Learning activities are exactly as the name suggests – activities we have designed to help you learn! All the activites you undertake are explicitly mapped to the VI MQ outcomes so you can see progression again the outcomes, and if appropriate share a summary with your line manager and/or mentor. To help classify the activities, we have grouped them within the three perspectives of learning.
