Melanoma: Lalit Pallan interview with Sally

Sally was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma in the lymph glands under her armpit and small metastases in the lungs following removal of a primary melanoma from her back the year before. She was subsequently treated with combination checkpoint blockade (Ipilimumab and Nivolumab). After the fourth treatment, she started developing Grade 3 immune-related side effects due to pituitary dysfunction causing cortisol deficiency; she was then switched to single drug treatment with Nivolumab alone. After 2 years, with her melanoma having become undetectable, her treatment was electively discontinued. She is currently cancer free but remains under close surveillance. It is likely she will remain on hydrocortisone for the rest of her life.
