Abstract

Students’ feelings about and responses to assessment are a perennial concern. Much of the discourse in this area relates to students’ satisfaction and engagement with feedback, however, an awareness has been growing that universities need to understand students’ deeper perceptions or ‘assessment literacy'. Yet, few empirical studies have addressed students' assessment literacy in the university sector. In this paper, we present results from our study and the implications for how we can improve student perceptions and preparation for assessment.
