Abstract

The aim of this workshop is to explore the diversity of electronic examination across the campus, share good practice, begin to define strategy and identify potential pinch points. In an increasingly digital world, conventional paper exams look increasing anachronistic. The drive for increased efficiency, speed of feedback, authenticity and transnational education make online computer based exams more attractive. We have identified staff across the university who are currently exploiting e-assessment in one form or other. In the workshop, staff will present their current practice in this area, including both formative and summative assessment. In a discussion workshop HEFI staff supporting both the technological and pedagogical aspects of delivery will explore the aspirations and potential barriers to further expansion with academic staff. We will capture the discussion and use this to inform subsequent developments in this rapidly moving area.
