Abstract:

As we begin to prepare for life beyond the pandemic what will the new normal in universities look like? Has the pandemic simply catalysed a technology-enabled, but easily-recognisable trajectory or has it initiated a marked divergence towards a previously unpredicted future? Or will the new normal just look like the old normal? The answer will lie with the decisions we now choose to make both individually and collectively. This interactive session will aim to explore the range of possible futures by asking a deceptively simple question: what are universities for?

Professor Prem Kumar, Director of the Institute of Clinical Sciences, will lead this session and will be joined by Sarah King from HEFi to invite discussion around a vision for education in the next generation university.
