Abstract:

Climate change is the focus of research across the university, however climate change education is not present in many of our courses, even in disciplines where you would expect to find it (i.e. Geography, Engineering, Education, Business, etc). In this session we explore the role of HE in raising awareness and professional competency of our graduates to address climate change challenges by embedding this topic across curricula. We will present a case study from the School of Engineering and create a dialogue to identify other opportunities where educators from across the university can embed climate change into their curricula.

Finally we will present the benefits of embedding these issues and the direction of future work.

A case-study on the school of engineering curricula will be presented to stimulate discussion on how climate change issues and Sustainable Development Goals can be embedded into curricula across the university. The session makes the implications of climate change relevant to the professional practice of HE educators for all disciplines.
