Abstract:

We respond to the call from UNESCO, Barber (2013) and the ISE (2021) by presenting an innovative technology-based assessment, that forces students out of their comfort zone to present creative solutions to contemporary issues.

Assessments form a crucial part of HE curriculum in developing learners with not only knowledge but also competences, capacities and skills that they would need in their future lives (González and Wagenaar; 2003). To achieve this, it is important to use the relevant technology and innovative methods of assessment, that improve the decision-making capabilities of students (Fahey, 2012).

In summary, we are able to demonstrate that by placing technology at the centre of the learning process (Barber et al. 2013) we are able to encourage students to not only understand theory, but to also demonstrate their creative solutions (Beghetto 2005)

This session would appeal to a wide audience from all Colleges, as we will showcase how as academics, we can use the canvas platform to facilitate digital assessments that scaffold students’ learning and are:
