Abstract

This workshop explores the increasingly accessible technology used to create custom tours of locations, present research findings and how interactive content can be embedded. Attendees will learn about the benefits to inclusive practise this technology affords, and the future possibility of using virtual tours/professional practice encounters for student assessment.

The technology used for the field trips goes beyond the obvious subjects of geology and ecology. Many disciplines teach concepts that are applied to real world locations that are not always accessible to the students.

This technology can also be used for the dissemination of research findings. For example, we will demonstrate how trainee social workers can engage in virtual home visits based on research that demonstrates the enablers and barriers to effective child protection work.
