Abstract:

Teaching students from different learning cultures can present challenges, particularly in disciplines that usually rely on participative pedagogies, such as social sciences. Chinese students are recognised as a distinctive cohort that warrant further attention. In this session, I will share the insights and understanding I have gained from teaching cohorts of mostly Chinese students, and the nuanced yet practical pedagogical tools I have developed to support inter-cultural learning. The session will also offer the opportunity to share your experiences and expertise so we can all learn from each other.

This session addresses the challenge of engaging students and developing environments for inter-cultural learning, with particular focus on Chinese students. The session will be practically focused, aiming at sharing practices and ideas to enhance your teaching.
