Abstract:

How do we prepare our students to contribute to societal challenges? How do we teach them to make societal impact with their scientific background? In this meeting, we will present some inspiring practices of impact learning at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (University of Amsterdam, NL). Examples are the Design Thinking Pressure Cooker, Place Making, minor Tesla, and the Student Impact Centre. After this, we will break out into groups and discuss questions such as: how to assess impact-driven education? And how to build and maintain a network of external partners? We will end with defining some recommendations that you can turn into practice in your own faculty
