Abstract

Over the course of the two academic years, two Welfare Tutors from the College of Arts and Law (Dr Adrian Powney and Iain Cormack) collaborated on the provision of support to five students who were either questioning gender or working through gender transition. This collaboration identified a number of barriers to accessing support that this student demographic face in HE as well as highlighting gaps in service provision, institutional policy and staff knowledge. Knowledge gained from this project has been set against best practice from Advance HE and Gendered Intelligence, and is presented in a document that outlines the lived experience of the students we have supported. This interactive workshop aims to examine some practical ways in which wellbeing staff can provide support to this group of students.
