Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence is frequently referenced in lists of skills sought by employers and it is especially useful in uncertain and challenging times.  It is defined as ‘the ability to perceive, evaluate, and respond to your own emotions and the emotions of others' (LinkedIn Links to an external site.).  This is not only useful when collaborating with others but it can also help you understand your own and others' actions and decision-making processes.

'Unfortunately, there is a skills gap in emotional intelligence. While this is negative, it does create a clear opportunity for those with a view to improving their own future employability' (FutureLearn Links to an external site.).
