There are different ways of citing your sources within your assignment and your department will advise you which is most appropriate for your subject. Whichever they ask for, the important things to remember are:

Rule of thumb: give us a reference for everything you mention that you have discovered while studying your module. Your assessment is designed so that you can show us what you have learned
If in doubt about giving page numbers, chapter numbers etc. then think of your reader. What would help them to find the information you are citing most easily, if they wanted to read it for themselves?
There is no need to give a referenced definition from the OED for any particular word unless you plan to pick it apart, or use that definition as a starting point for your analysis
There is no need to give us three referenced quotes that tell us the same thing. One will do, and better if it is from the first person who said it
Any primary resources that you refer to that cannot be found from the library, or online, shoulld be included in an Appendix
