Free-writing

Many students and academics (usually around 50% of any group I ask this question!) start by free-writing all the ideas that come into their head before they start to see an argument emerging. This is fine! Whatever works for you - your tutors will never see it - they will only see the finished product when you hand in, and any draft work that they ask you to hand in for a tutorial or dissertation supervision.

But do remember

You will need to impose some coherent structure on your essay at some point. And do watch out for the regular AWAS workshops we run on 'Structuring your essay'. AWAS workshops are announced via the AWAS for UGs / AWAS for PGTs Canvas pages, and we generally run one of these sessions specifically for students with Dyslexia at some point in the year.
