General tips

  1. As a general rule, your reader wants to see a quick overview of your ANSWER to any questions posed in your introduction.
  • Essentially, this is a summary of the conclusions you have come to at the end of each section of your essay, and will show that you have achieved the aim that you set out to achieve
  • And in that sense your statements will be BIGGER and STRONGER than those you made in your introduction.
  • Because you will be saying something about the themes you introduced when you stated how you would approach the problem/question/conundrum identified in your introduction.
  1. And if you can, how this relates to the BROADER PICTURE of the topic area concerned - have a look at your module as a whole to see where your question relates to the debates and discussions going on in the literature.

KEY POINTS:

  • Here is where it can help to return to the wording of your question - to underscore the fact that you have answered it!
  • This is not the place to add more information
  • But this is the place to make sure that your reader will not be left thinking 'So what?' when they have finished reading your essay!
